When I started eating an AIP diet it wasn’t because I had been tested for Hashimoto’s and knew what was going on it was because my doctor knew a diet of nothing more than organic meats fruits and vegetables would help my gut.
Great eats with Hashimoto’s? Yes! Meals seem so hard to come up with when you first discover it could help with the way you’re feeling. Eating out is even harder. As far as restaurants go you just have to research them then try them out to find some good standbys you can steer your friends and family to. When it comes to cooking at home I remember hardly eating anything and when I tried to add broths or spices into my cooking I’d almost always get sick because I’d inadvertently be adding gluten as well. But there is an easier way to begin. To start off get fresh spices, make your own broth, marinades and sauces and find a go-to site that has AIP recipes. It’s a good place to start even if you move to a different kind of diet; Best diet for Hashimoto’s Thyroidism, Dr. Izabella Wentz
When I started eating an AIP diet it wasn’t because I had been tested for Hashimoto’s and knew what was going on it was because my doctor knew a diet of nothing more than meats fruits and vegetables would help my gut. I was initially diagnosed with adrenal fatigue and leaky gut. It took me five years from that time to get a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s. Overall I had been feeling sick for about ten years if not more.
It doesn’t have to be hard now a days. There are plenty of sites with great recipes for Hashimoto’s. One site I was really excited to find is called Phoenix Helix and it has tons of AIP recipes in their recipe roundtables. You don’t even have to think (unless you have a food intolerance) you can just pick out a few for the week. Everything I have tried so far is amazing!
I think we all need a foam finger! This post from Popular Paleo made me laugh;
I’m throwing this link in because I couldn’t believe how good this recipe is. We had just pulled rhubarb from our garden and I was lucky to have found it. It makes nine cups of goodness and my family of three ate it all in less than twenty-four hours! Oink oink.
